NABERS UK - Embedded in Industry Standards & Guidance

The UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard is a voluntary standard applicable across new build, existing buildings and retrofits.It was created through unprecedented collaboration within the UK built environment industry, and is backed by building data and science-led modelling.

The 2026 updates continue the trajectory established by the GRESB Foundation toward a predictable, transparent, and multi-year development process. Building on the 2025 Standard and following the path outlined in last year’s Roadmap, the updates strengthen incentives for meaningful action while enhancing clarity, technical robustness, and sector relevance. 

The CIBSE TM54 methodology covers all types of modelling. ‘Modelling’ is used in this document to encompass calculations of energy performance in a wide sense, including spreadsheet and steadystate tools as well as dynamic simulation modelling (DSM).
